Software Field Tester
Point Inc. (a Topcon-Sokkia company) is looking for a talented Software Field Tester to join our System Test team in the Olathe, Kansas office. The candidate will be responsible for testing a wide variety of survey hardware and software applications.
Responsibities include, but are not limited to:
• Writing and executing test plans.
• Locating defects within hardware/software and writing clear and concise defect descriptions.
• Analyzing survey and GPS data.
• Develop test cases to test mathematical data.
• Work outdoors for testing purposes.
• Work closely with development and project management and help resolve conflicts within the hardware/software.
• Test a variety of software products using high-end survey equipment.
• Develop plans to improve testing processes.
• Work with embedded systems such as CE & Windows Mobile devices.
Requirements:
• A degree in Computer Science, Surveying, Geomatics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years testing experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good math skills.
• Able to work alone or in a team environment.
• Must have positive attitude.
• Capable of multi-tasking and responding to time-critical tasks.
• Working knowledge of automated testing and/or of the land surveying industry a plus.
• Possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

Intermediate Software Developer (Competition #304)
Software Applications Team
Contract: 12 months
The successful candidate will be a valuable resource within POINT’s Research and Development Group and will develop engineering software for Windows PC and Mobile platforms. Responsibilities will focus on the design and development of leading-edge field software applications that target the international land survey and construction industries. Development activities will include requirement analysis, software design, implementation and unit testing. POINT, Inc. offers competitive compensation and a relaxed work environment. This is a contract position based out of POINT, Inc.’s Calgary office, which could lead to permanent placement. Candidates will be required to work out of the POINT, Inc. offices for the duration of the contract.
Qualifications:
• Software Engineering/Programming Degree (or equivalent) is required.
• 5+ years industry experience in C++ software development using OOA/D is required.
• Development experience using Win32 API, MFC, or QT is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Development experience with C# and SQL is an asset.
• Industry experience in surveying, mapping, or GPS is an asset.
• Experience developing for Windows Mobile devices is an asset.
• Familiarity with software development in graphics, serial communications, or Bluetooth is an asset.
• Familiarity with software development on Linux O/S is an asset.
